beauty Myth #1: there are differences between men and women

If you ask me it's bullshit, that beauty products are divided into gender and labels then. And it's not just because, we live in a time, where the boundaries between the sexes becomes more blurred. But also because of the misleading aspect of the gender-oriented products – a carriage which we as consumers often all too happy to jump on.

There is namely nothing, who speaks for, that a cream is specifically designed for either men or women. It's all about skin type, the condition of the skin and its needs. And as such, it has nothing to do with, what gender you are. The only difference in skin care products for men and women is packaging and perfume.

And at the risk of sounding like an angry fighting feminist, so I actually think I think it's downright ridiculous, that I should turn into an antiperspirant, where it says ‘for but’ on, to have one, which works for me. Does that mean so, that I sweat in the eyes of the beauty brand unfeminine much? 😉

I'm pretty sure, that I am not the only woman, who at times can sweat like a pig, and that's why I'm happy after all, that this antiperspirant exists. Fortunately, the antiperspirant is perfume-free, so in principle it does not matter, if then it was not because, that their antiperspirant for women was less effective.

I wonder, what causes a beauty fire, to make a more effective product for one sex, and a less effective product for the opposite sex?

Differences in men's and women's skin

One can talk about, that there are differences in men's and women's skin type due to. hormones. For example, men tend to have larger leeks and higher oil production. There's just that, that women can certainly have it too. Exactly the same skin care ingredients are used to remedy the problem, so why put gender labels on?

A good example is the Powder Cans' T-Zone Peeling, which is fixed equipment at home, as it is good for both my boyfriend and my own skin type.

Of course, we could not help but draw on the smiley face, when they made one with their usual twinkle in the eye “mandeudgave” of the product. The difference you ask? On gray label instead of one pink! Here the girlfriend had to crawl to the cross and confess, that he probably would rather have the gray version standing on his side of the bathroom mirror.

This shows exactly, that this change must also start in ourselves. We need to be able to see through packaging and wrapping, and instead focus on the content and the effect. For (I repeat) the is so not something called lady- or men's skin care – only needs and skin type!

I am aware of, that there is something marketing-oriented in correcting labels, product names and labels for different segments and audiences. But I hope, that that mindset becomes obsolete over time, and that we see more brands making products, which is not aimed at one or the other sex – but who instead use the space on the label to inform about the ingredients in their products, which it is, it's all about.

I show therefore in the next post 7 skin care products, as both my boyfriend and I reach out for it almost daily. This is due to both the packaging, the scent, the properties and of course the effect, which in the end it is, what is most important!
